This week I got back from my lovely birthday weekend down in San Diego, here's a photo of the view!
I have to admit it was a bit of jolt coming back from a 4-day vacation. It was like I had a party hangover.
I had trouble sleeping the night I got back and spent all day Tuesday morning freezing cold and yet sweating like crazy.
Fortunately, I had a coaching call scheduled (for myself) that I had put on my calendar weeks ago, not knowing that I'd be surprised with going out of town. Sometimes the universe is just amazing like that.
At the start of the call I felt cold, clammy and my stomach was in knots. By the end of the call we had uncovered that I felt overwhelmed and stuck. And that’s when I looked around and realized that my office was cluttered with paperwork that needed to be thrown away and my bedroom looked like a clothing tornado had ripped through it from post-vacation unpacking/not totally unpacking.
And it was causing me physical and emotional stress to live in that environment.
Only one solution! I decluttered those two spaces and guess what? At that point my body temperature turned completely normal and my stomach pains ended within 10 minutes.
You can see the power of having a space that speaks to your personality and soul can’t you?
But it can be really hard to get started and sometimes overwhelm stops us no matter how much we want it to be different.
That's why I've built a home decluttering checklist for you.
You can grab it here.
It’s a checklist that will help you go through your environment step by step, box by box so you can stop being overwhelmed and take it one section at a time.
Because when your space is cluttered, your mind is cluttered.
That's why it's so important to have open space in your environment. It gives your mind the peace it needs to sort out whatever it needs to internally and make room for new possibilities.
And I want the same for you! What does your personal space look like? Counters filled with mail? Bedroom chair stacked with clothes? Desk covered in paperwork and to-do lists?
It's time to de-clutter your personal space. Because you deserve to have your home be a retreat! And a safe space you can relax and recharge in.
Also, de-cluttering your physical environment is one of the first steps to building better, healthier habits. All my coaching clients declutter their spaces, so think of this as your inside look at one of the many things in the 90-day total transformation.
When you declutter, you create space and that space creates possibilities.
Grab your home decluttering checklist here.
Now I have a challenge for you!
Leave a comment on the blog about what you decluttered and how you now feel afterwards. I'd love to hear from you. If you want, include before and after photos!
Sometimes we need that extra reminder of all the progress we've made and digital proof is an excellent way to do it.
You’ve totally got this. Start with each column on the list and work your way through. You’ll be amazed at how quickly it goes!
Today is the day you take back your life.
